Essay For Health Profession

I have many many students who say I didn’t know I didn’t know so what you want to do is learn how to write in different styles and learn how to write across your career so we’re going to talk this one here so what happens is I see a lot of students who are taking the writing from high school that got them into college and they’re trying to use that same writing to get into a health profession and that means you’re four years behind but what I’m trying to do is to get you to write 40 years older than you are more sophisticated so they really go wow so the reason we look at this differently is because we have different perspectives the student thinks what do I want to say what do I want them the admissions committee to know about me. Learn what`s different about health essays on Edusson.

And I’m thinking on the admissions committee what do I need to hear and I’m noting consistent differences in the way students think and in the way an admissions committee member might think so you really want to convince them that you know what this career entails it’s the job of an admissions committee to choose very well okay it costs a fortune for all of these institutions to train you much much more than your tuition and we need to know that you really know what the career is as I say the depth and the breadth the dedication the commitment the long hours the joys and the sorrows and you can’t just say yeah I’m dedicated I’m committed I’ll work long hours I know it’s tough you have to give them the data and then not let them draw the conclusion convince them with the data the way I tell my advice this is students get stuck thinking in terms of a to-do list so yes we’re going to look at your GPA we’re gonna look at the admissions committee my admissions exam we’re going to look at whether you’ve done research and then everybody is told well you should shadow.

And you should volunteer and and if you think of this as a checklist well it’s I did that I did that I did that and then you hope that if you have a checkmark in every box you’re going to be admitted and I find that does not work well because the term shadowing and volunteering don’t really convey to you what the admissions committee is looking for so shadow is experienced in any health-related setting with anybody of the healthcare team not just a physician not only a PA not only a dentist nurse practitioners physical therapists everybody the big key words here are health care team it takes the entire village to make someone well so shadowing or getting in any experience like that is great maybe you work with an organization who helps people who are underinsured anything health related not only a clinic or a hospital I also have giving back here I’ll talk about that in a couple of slides as well.

Goal Of A Research Paper

Research papers and that’s what this talk is about this is about the process of getting to get get you getting back together to write research papers that will be accepted by program committees and it kind of is like this it’s it’s just the skill right it’s a really important skill doing the research is important but writing about it also really important I just want to do in this next now just give you some some thoughts about the process that I go through when I when I write a paper this is not something about which anybody has a monopoly on truth and so as I go just just um ask questions or make comments like this you’ll have had an experience that’s different to me and just stick your hand up and make ask a question. More about setting goals for your work at Edusson.

I’ll make comment as we go along don’t wait until the end because it will always certainly run out of time we’ll have to way too much fun right so just um just know this isn’t this isn’t something that anybody has perfect answers to so let’s see I want to start off with some non reasons for writing papers but when you write good search paper you have to know what you’re trying to achieve like so here’s a knot is something that most people think this might be about writing babies I think is a very bad reason like you can you could be all these slides will be up you can read the the cartoon later right so it’s not just to sort of impress other people it’s because writing research papers is part of being a good researcher it’s fundamental part right now say a bit more about why here’s another thing that people often write papers about they think oh I’ve done this work and I should write about it so it’s like what I did in my summer holidays right but the trouble is that nobody is really interested in you per se at all while you are but they aren’t right why they’re going to read your paper not because they want to know about what you did in your some holidays but because you’re going to convey something interesting to them here’s another thing people often write papers about they’ve built some system.

And they say of course everybody would want to know about the Wiswall system but sadly this is not true nobody else is interested in the Wiswall system right they it’s yours and why should they care last thing and this is slightly more plausible that you might think you’re writing research paper to describe something new right novelty is you know it’s kind of usually good in science isn’t it and you might find you read papers you say the novel feature of the system is X right so now I have to pause a little bit right because in biology say novelty has value in its own right if you discover something new about the way cells work the world is a better place what we know more in computer science it’s like a fractal subject it’s like a snowflake.

How to Write IELTS Essay Introductions

What we’re talking about today is writing introductions. And I’m going to give you three ways that you can write introductions, and you can use any of these three ways to answer an IELTS exam for the discursive essay or discursive essay questions in the CAE exam.

So let’s take a look at the kind of question I’m talking about. I’ll read the question to you first of all.

“In Britain, elderly people may go to live in a home with other old people where nurses look after them. Sometimes the government has to pay for this care. Who do you think should pay for this care?”

And then in the IELTS question it would say: “Give reasons and support your answer with your own opinions.”

So this is a discursive essay. And if you look at it, there are two… There are two sides in the question. The first side is the government paying for the care. And the other… The other side is implied, doesn’t… Doesn’t tell us who the other side is. But if the government’s not paying, it’s implying that it’s the… The children of the elderly people. So: “children of elderly people.” So, in all these discursive essays, there’s going to be some kind of opposition; one side and a different side. So now we found the two sides, the two ways of looking at this question.

And what we’re going to look at now is the first way that you can answer this question in an introduction. Because what happens is when you get there and you’re writing an exam, many people just get stuck and they don’t know what to write for the introduction; they don’t know how to begin. And, of course, you can waste time if you don’t know what to say. So what some people do is basically just rewrite the question and just maybe change a couple of words, but it’s not really an introduction if you do that.

So let’s look at rhetorical questions. You can use a rhetorical question to write an introduction. What’s a “rhetorical question”? I think I just made a rhetorical question. It’s when you… When you speak directly to the reader, asking a question, but of course the reader’s not going to be able to answer you, so you answer the reader in the course of your argument. So it’s taking the question and making your own question out of it, essentially. So, an easy way to do it is by using: “should” to form your question. So remember we’ve got two sides, we’ve got an opposition. We’ve got government paying for the care and we’ve got the children of elderly people paying for the… For the care.

So here we go, here’s the first example:

“Should the government or family pay for the care of elderly people?”

So, in my answer, I’ve called them “family” here, it’s a little bit… It’s a little bit more direct and succinct, rather than saying: “children of elderly people”. So there’s one example.

“Should the government be responsible for providing care for elderly people?”

I forgot my question mark there. You don’t need to write your rhetorical question with “should”. You could use other question structures. For example: “Is it the responsibility of government to pay for the care of elderly people?” You don’t have to use “should”, but I find “should” is an easy… Easy way to generate your question. But then, you know, that’s not the whole introduction; you need to say something else.

What do you say then? Well, you follow with the context. So, what’s the context of this? Well, it’s telling us what happens in Britain, elderly people go to homes and the government pays or sometimes the family pay, but maybe there’s a different context in other countries. For example: the country you’re from. Again, it’s implying that, that it’s not the same system everywhere in the world. So you could… You could bring this context into the next sentence in your introduction.

So here is some sentences you can use for writing about the context. And I haven’t… I haven’t finished the sentences, I’ll just improvise some endings. For example:

“This question” – talking about the rhetorical question – “generates a lot of debate because…” and now I’m going to improvise. “This question generates a lot of debate because the care for elderly people is very, very” – not very, very – “is very expensive.”
